Welcome to the island of Karpathos
Karpathos is the far most southern island of the Dodecanese complex. It is located between Crete and Rhodes and is approximately 301 sq km in size. Its shorelines stretch out approximately 160 km.

Karpathos is the 2nd in size island of the Dodecanese complex. It is known for its natural beauty and for the fact that the local residents keep their traditions more alive than and in any other corner of both the islands and mainland of Greece. This is evident from the traditional costumes that are worn during the festivities by all the women of the island.

It is oblong in shape and its length reaches 49 klms. Its maximum width reaches 11 klms, while its minimum width reaches 3,3 klms. Its highest mountain reaches 1215 meters. Other high peaks of Karpathos are Profitis Elias 1168 meters, Lastos 975 meters.

Despite the wild beauty of the traditional and atofio nature, and the wonderful isolated beaches, the Karpathos is still intact by mass tourism, and looks like a real paradise.

Karpathos maintains its traditions and the authenticity of villages more than any other island of the Aegean. An ideal destination for those that want they combine their vacation with traditional places and take part in the local festivities. In the village of Olympus the women continue to wear local traditional costume revealing their strong ties with Carpathian traditions.

Karpathos produces grapes and from these high quality wine . It also produces oil, grapes, honey, citrus fruits and others. The traditional folklore works of art, such at the Karpathian plates, woven fabrics and others are also products that are produced here. In the sea of Karpathos a lot of tasteful fish are fished. At the south part of the island you will have the chance to see flat like limestones.

The initial impression that you get from Karpathos is that it is a barren, rocky island that has no forests. Nevertheless Karpathos has a vast variety of herbs and it is a paradise for a substantial quantity of animals and plants. It has a thick a beautiful pine forest in the centre of the island at Piles - Mesohori - Spoa.
